Family-run sawmill in Galicia

Wood supplier in Spain: from standing timber to finished product

Maderas Caamaño is a full-chain wood supplier based in Vimianzo (A Coruña, Galicia, Spain): we buy standing and round timber, saw it in-house at our own sawmill, and turn it into pallets, sawn timber, biomass and firewood.

Finding a wood supplier in Spain often means dealing with several separate intermediaries: the one who buys the log, the one who saws it, the one who builds the pallet, the one who bags the biomass. Maderas Caamaño, S.C. works differently. We are a family-run sawmill in Berdoias, Vimianzo (A Coruña), Galicia, and we keep the whole chain in-house: we buy standing and round timber, saw it at our own facility, and process it into the finished products that leave our warehouse.

That vertical integration is not a slogan — it is the reason we can adjust quality, specifications and production timing without depending on a third party to deliver the raw material on schedule. If you are not yet sure which product line fits your order, this page summarises our full catalogue and points you to the right category: wood pallets, sawn timber, biomass and firewood, and pellet stoves as a complementary distributed line.

Vertical integration: why we buy the tree before we sell the product

Most wood suppliers specialise in a single link of the chain: some are timber merchants who only buy and sell logs, others are pallet manufacturers who buy already-sawn boards from someone else, and others distribute biomass that never passes through their own facility at all. Maderas Caamaño does all three under one roof. We buy standing and round timber directly, bring it to our sawmill in Berdoias, Vimianzo, and saw it ourselves before turning it into pallets, sawn timber, biomass or firewood.

That short chain has a practical consequence: we do not depend on an outside sawmill delivering raw material on time, or on a middleman setting the price of the board we need. We can adjust dimensions, species and sawing volumes to match what each product line requires, giving us more control over quality and lead time than a straightforward reseller would have. For a wholesale buyer, that means a single point of contact across several product categories, rather than coordinating orders with a different supplier for each one.

Wood pallets

We manufacture wood pallets to the EPAL/EUR specification, alongside custom pallets and heat-treated pallets for export outside the EU. The European EPAL/EUR pallet remains the most requested format thanks to its interchangeability across European supply chains; for loads with particular dimensions or load-bearing needs, we also work to custom specifications, cutting the boards and blocks from our own sawn output rather than starting from generic third-party stock.

Sawn timber

Our sawn timber line starts from the same logs we saw for pallets, which lets us offer both green and kiln-dried timber depending on the end use. Galician sawn pine timber is our reference product in this category, alongside eucalyptus, available in different dimensions. Because we saw the log ourselves, we can combine a sawn timber order with a pallet or biomass order in the same shipment, which a straightforward board distributor is not always able to offer.

Biomass, firewood and pellet stoves

The parts of the log and the sawing off-cuts that don't go into pallets or sawn timber feed our biomass line: 6mm/8mm wood pellets with under 10% moisture, sold in bulk, 15kg bags or bulk bags, and firewood in oak, eucalyptus or compressed hardwood logs, in 25cm and 33cm lengths, supplied loose bulk, in nets, bundles or bulk bags. As a complement to biomass, we also distribute — though we don't manufacture — six pellet stove models from different brands, for buyers who want to source the appliance alongside the fuel they already buy from us.

Wholesale supply and logistics across the EU

We work with full-truckload orders both for the Spanish market and for B2B customers in other EU countries (Portugal, France, Germany, Italy), where intra-EU supply is typically VAT-exempt at origin under the reverse-charge mechanism when the buyer holds a valid, VIES-verified EU VAT number. International road freight is documented with the CMR consignment note standard to European road transport, and we agree the incoterm — EXW, FOB or delivered — whichever suits the order best.

A standard European road trailer carries roughly 24-26 tonnes, or up to about 33 EPAL pallet positions — a general industry figure useful for sizing an order, not a capacity we guarantee for every shipment. If your order combines, say, pallets with sawn timber, or biomass with firewood, we can look at how to consolidate that load efficiently for your destination.

Frequently asked questions

What is your minimum order?

We don't quote a generic figure here — contact us with your product and destination and we'll confirm the applicable minimum. We typically work by the full truckload.

Do you supply countries other than Spain?

Yes. We supply B2B customers in Portugal, France, Germany and Italy, where goods move without customs duties or border checks as part of the EU single market.

What documentation accompanies international shipments?

International road transport is covered by a CMR consignment note, the standard European road-freight document. For VAT, intra-EU B2B deliveries are typically exempt at origin when the buyer provides a VIES-verified EU VAT number.

Do my pallets need ISPM 15 marking?

Only if the final destination is outside the EU, such as the UK or Switzerland. For shipments within the EU — Portugal, France, Germany, Italy — ISPM 15 marking is not required.
